New Addition

We have add a new member to our family. It is a 9 week old male puppy, he does not have a name yet but he is pretty smart and is learning fast. He is already taken to Dennis and I am sure he will be Dennis's dog. More pictures to follow.

AT THE BEACH

Our granddaughter arrived in Texas on Wednesday the 15th and on Thursday the weather was in the 80's so we went to the beach. We ran around bare footed and as you can see Alexis even went into the water. We collected sea shell which there seems to be an abundance of, we collected some really big ones and got about a mixing bowl full. It was a great day and we all had fun, the only thing missing was the dog and she would have love running in the water and chasing after Alexis.

Golf Cart Parade

Monday the 13th they had a gold cart parade in the RV Park. m The parade was lead by one of our neighbors who just happens to be the Chief of Police for Mathis. It was a good parade and fun was had by all.

1/2 way there

The car port portion is up and the cement is poured and dried. In January we will finish it off into a full garage. For now we have parked the 1950 GMC in the car port and can enjoy it more as there is not near as much trouble getting it out for a drive like when it was in the cargo trailer.

Almost everyone in the neighborhood is here but there still a couple of friends missing. Will be nice when Ed & Jayne can join us miss them but know they must be at home in South Dakota for now.

New car port coming

We have been getting ready for the new car port we wanted to add this year. This is before we got started.

Socks

Sorry I have not keep up with our blog but after arriving in Texas we have been very busy. With unpacking the Motor Home and getting settled back into our park model. But as you can see, Socks has made herself well at home and even found a new place to call her own. We recieved this package and did not want to throw out the box or papers in case we need to send the product back. Luck for us we did not have to send it back as Socks has claimed for her own.

Some of the neighbors and us purchased crushed up asphalt and had it spread on the road in back of us to cut down the dust. These are pics of the guys trying to smooth it out.

We then travelled on the 3rd day to Valleyview, Alberta and stopped for the night at Sherk RV park. It is a beautiful park and tomorrow we plan on traveling to Saskatoon Saskatchewan.

It is time to go

The campground is almost empty and it is time to go. We packed down and put the truck on the back and drove out of the bear loop. We stopped at the wolf loop and then the caribou and closed the gates and locked up for the winter. The sun was out and it was a beautiful day so we headed for Fairbanks where we gas up the Motor Home and got some grocerys and headed for Tok, Alaska. We arrived at 6 p.m. and settled down for a quiet night and some sleep. Tomorrow we will cross into Canada and start our long trip to Michigan.

The season coming to an end

You can tell the season is almost over when we get sunsets like these and when Host site #2 is empty. Only 4 1/2 days to go and we also will be hitting the road. It has been very cold in the morning 28 degrees for a week now but the sun comes out and it is in the 60's and beautiful. Maybe we will be lucky this year and get out of Denali and not be snow on. Will be good to get home to the warm weather and to see the grandkids. I know they have grown.

Bus trip to Visitor Center

Last Thursday we took a bus trip out to Eielson visitor center. On the way we saw the big 5. That is the Dall Sheep, Caribou, Moose, Grizzle bear, and we seen the wolves. This is a young female that was right side the road and she looked like she had just wake up from a nap. It was cloudy at the visitor center so we did not see the mountain but outside of that fact it was a great day.

One of our guest in Riley Creek

This is a picture of Bill (dad), Amarins (mom), Cheyenne 7, Jasmine 5, and Robin 3. We met them in Denali at Riley Creek. They camp with us from July 26 to Aug 8th. They travel on this custom made bike built for 5 from MT Vernon Kentucky to Alaska. They have finally arrived in Fairbank on Aug 13th. We enjoyed their stay and if you wish to see about their entire trip please visit their web site at www.pedouins.org We really enjoy the youngest girl Robin, she was very out going and friendly and talk to us everyday when we were on duty. We wish them all the luck they need as they are going to spend the winter in Fairbanks and see how the true Alaskan makes it.

1931 Cord

This is a 1931 Cord L-29 Cabriolet. It was the first mass produce front wheel drive car. I think it was the coolest car in the Museum.
